Our first Cherry Award goes to local business Volpes.
“Volpes, The Home of Linen, is a proudly South African brand, established in 1929 in Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha). Volpes began as a small, family-owned business, focused on supplying our customers, all over South Africa, with quality goods at affordable prices through mail order.”
They first caught our eye with this sponsored advert on Facebook.
It’s neat – the images are all the same size, with colours that work nicely together. Easy on the eye.
Good use of hashtags – this post will be seen by people that don’t necessarily follow their page.
We had a look at their Instagram account.
And then that V caught our eye!
It’s clever. It’s branding without being the traditional “logo pasted onto the image”.
The V is threaded through the image and focusses the eye on the product they want to highlight.
Look what we mean:
And it’s not always the same colour. Or in the same position. Or even the same thickness. And notice how the V comes out of the frame. This keeps the adverts playful, light and interesting.
It’s genius. We have a bit of design-envy, to be honest!
Other cleverness on Volpes’ part:
using tagged photos of competition winners, which gets engagement from the winner’s followers who might never normally see a Volpes post.
choosing the right platforms (Facebook and Instagram in this case) for their target audience and product type.
